The lake is fed by groundwater and had an outflow towards Dolgensee. In the 1980s, this drain was closed by the forest department as the water level of the lake had fallen. In 1950, the foundation stone for a children's holiday camp was laid on the north bank of the Frauensee, the then pioneer tent camp “M. J. Kalinin”. The Frauensee children's and youth recreation center (KiEZ) is now located there. It has an overnight capacity of 850 beds and has a site of 24 hectares.

The stone commemorates Edwin Steinick, district forester in the Königs Wusterhausen forestry office. Born December 19, 1900, died in 1963.

The Frauensee lies somewhat hidden, like a secret revealed only to those not passing through. Nestled in a quiet pine forest, it shimmers between the trees – calm, clear, free of motorboats. On the eastern shore, a picture-perfect bathing spot opens up: soft sand, shallow water, and lush greenery beyond. Those who walk further will find small, quiet entrances in the shade of the trees – for those who prefer to keep to themselves. On the northern shore, however, there are voices, laughter, children, a holiday camp that breathes life into the lake every year. And all around it stretches a hiking trail that never intrudes, but simply exists – like the lake itself: serene, inviting, unobtrusively beautiful.

Here you can sit close to the lake and let your gaze wander over the idyllic lake, if not just at that moment the guy races across the lake in a motorboat.

A small lake in the middle of unspectacular pine forest. On the northern shore is a children's camp with several sandy beaches. The south side offers beautiful views and one or the other plant rarity. On the eastern shore and south shore, there are also some places where you can cool down in the lake if necessary.
