The Old Town Hall in Minden is an impressive historic building that has served as the seat of the city council since 1260. The arcade on the ground floor, dating back to the 13th century, is particularly noteworthy and survived the destruction of World War II. The town hall stands on the market square and is an outstanding example of Gothic architecture in Westphalia. A major renovation was carried out in the 17th century, during which a prestigious Renaissance-style town hall was created. After the war, the town hall was rebuilt, preserving the early Gothic arcade.

The Minden Weser Lock is an economy lock at the Minden waterway junction. It supplements the Minden shaft lock, which is too small for large motor freight vessels. The port of Bremen has also gained direct access to the Mittelland Canal via this larger lock for this type of ship. The new lock is located to the east, parallel to the shaft lock. The architectural design, with its functional style, does not incorporate any elements of the old shaft lock. Towers at the lower head are not necessary because the new lock has a stem gate against the downstream water (pull segment gate against the upstream water).
