The Haelen Bridge (text on the information board): The bridge, built in 1928-29 after the construction of the barrier wall on the Warche, was given the name "Haelen" (small village near the town of Diest), where the Belgian army repelled a German attack on August 12, 1914. This name replaced the name "Waterloo" which the Prussians gave to a new bridge over the Warche in 1861 when building the road between St. Vith and Baraque Michel (Belgian-Prussian border).
