The Hoppenrade Manor House is picturesquely situated amidst a sprawling 3-hectare estate bordering a nature reserve. Behind the manor house are a small park, a forest, a river, and expansive fields. At the beginning of the 18th century, Heinrich von Levetzow had a half-timbered manor house built in Hoppenrade. Between 1850 and 1853, Josua Magnus Klockmann built the present manor house in the neo-Gothic style according to plans by the Schwerin architect Theodor Krüger.

The first documented mention of Alt Sammit dates back to 1274. After an eventful history, the castle became private property in 1996 and was renovated. The current two-storey manor house, a red brick building with 13 axes, a base made of granite blocks and a hipped roof, was built according to a design by the Wismar architect Heinrich Thormann in 1859.[17] The manor house dates from around 1860/65. The balcony under the entrance is accentuated by balusters. A row of consoles runs under the eaves and yellow bricks decorate the cornices between the floors and window reveals.[18] For static reasons, the mighty tower above the entrance in the middle of the house was demolished after 1888 during the change of ownership between Eduard Krause and Günther Ehlermann. After 1905, the manor house was given its current appearance with neo-Gothic accents through multiple renovations. Güstrow Castle is one of the most important Renaissance castles in northern Europe. It combines Italian and French architectural elements with a typically northern European basic structure in a fascinating way. The castle's special jewel can be admired in its ballroom. A lively red deer frieze from the time it was built, which was created for Duke Ulrich in 1570, has been preserved here. Deer and hinds frolic here, jumping or grazing peacefully together. They are considered a symbol of a good royal marriage, so that the deer frieze refers to the paired name cartouches above, which show Duke Ulrich's noble ancestors.
