A beautiful dam with a variety of recreational activities on its waters, including rowing and stand-up paddleboarding. The water is usually calm and the temperature is very pleasant for swimming. A trip to the dam wall is also recommended.

Adam Friedrich Zürner was born in the old rectory in Marieney on August 15, 1679. He was the court geographer of Augustus the Strong. His work included the surveying of postal roads and the installation of postal pillars in the Electorate of Saxony. In addition to his surveying work, which Zürner expanded into Thuringia in the 1730s, he wrote several travelogues and travel guides in his final years. Zürner died on December 18, 1742, in Dresden and was buried in the Inner Neustadt Cemetery there.
