Worth a visit during the Christmas season

A very beautiful church.

St. Mary's Church in Husum is a landmark building in the city and one of its oldest. With its striking red brick tower and simple Nordic elegance, it is a place of tranquility, history, and culture. History & Architecture Construction period: Built in the 13th century (around 1430) in the typical Brick Gothic style of northern Germany. Reformation Church: Evangelical Lutheran since 1527. Tower & Exterior: The 76-meter-high tower is visible from afar and once served as a navigation mark. The simple brick facade exudes Nordic modesty. Reconstruction: After a fire in 1807, the church was renovated in the Neoclassical style, but retained its medieval character.

The buoy tender "Hildegard", a museum ship from the North Frisian Maritime Museum, is moored on the old slipway at the new town hall. From here, the perspectives are presented in a completely different light and interesting images of the ship and the harbor can be captured. And you can also learn something about the ship from 1907 from the information board. The slipway is accessible at any time, regardless of the museum's opening hours.

Buoy tender "Hilldegard" From 1907, used as a sailing ship under the name 'Eider to mark shipping routes in the Eider estuary and in the Wadden Sea for the Tönning Water and Shipping Authority. 1921 converted to a motor ship with a 90 hp engine. 1958 sold to the contract buoy tender Hinrich Rickleis, Amrum. Renamed "Hildegard". In service for laying buoys from Hallig Gröde to the Danish border 1978 decommissioned, 2000 sold to the North Frisian Maritime Museum. Moved to the old slipway of the former shipyard in Husum! ⚓️
