The oldest parts of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Bartholomew in Ottowind, Upper Franconia, in the Coburg district, date back to the 12th/13th century. The church and churchyard, which served as a cemetery until around 1880, were formerly a fortified complex. The oldest part of the church is the ground floor of the church tower, in which a 13th-century ashlar with stonemason's marks is incorporated.[1] The earlier church is documented as dating from 1528. The oldest bell dates from 1601. According to a building inscription, the top floor of the church tower and the dome date from 1753. When the Alexandrinenhütte itself is closed, the brand-new hut next door offers shelter. You can also comfortably enjoy the view of the Coburg region from here. The benches make it possible. A great idea 💡.

The station is part of the Meeder Legend Trail, funded by donations. The project aims to visually demonstrate the experiences of ancestors to future generations and bring history back to life for the present and future. Here in Ottowind, too, the "mysterious legend" about the headless rider between Ottowind and Oettingshausen was often recounted. Perhaps it actually happened that the deceased fetched the nasty gravedigger after the dance, after he had mocked her in the grave. The entire legend can be read on a plaque.

On May 27, 1906, an observation tower was inaugurated on the summit in honor of Duchess Alexandrine (1820–1904), wife of Duke Ernst II of Coburg.[3][4] The Alexandrine Tower, designed by Max Böhme, fell into disrepair over the following decades due to inadequate maintenance and was demolished in March 1936 due to its dilapidated condition. On July 18, 1936, the Thüringerwald-Verein Coburg e.V. inaugurated the Alexandrine Hut on the same site, built partly using stones from the former tower.
