In front of the Alsterweiler Chapel are interesting information panels about Alsterweiler, its inhabitants (known locally as "Alsterweiler Mucker"), and its sights. To the right behind the chapel (and therefore easily overlooked) stands a large mission cross from 1852 with the following inscription: "In remembrance of the mission held in the parish church of Maikammer by the Reverend Fathers of the Society of Jesus Roder and Zeil from June 27 to July 11, 1852." ``` “A mission cross [= memorial] commemorates the so-called popular missions of earlier times. Until the 19th century, groups of two or three priests from different orders traveled from parish to parish. They often stayed for several days or even weeks (in Maikammer with Alsterweiler, from June 27 to July 11, 1852) with the aim of renewing and converting the Christian people. A beautiful climb. At the Helmbachweiher pond, you can take a short swim break or raid the kiosk.

A wonderful spot that provides plenty of shade in the heat, inviting you to take a break from your hike. Very cozy and surrounded by beautiful nature.
