The figure depicting Storm's Regentrude was created by Christoph Haupt in 2007 on the occasion of the 200th birthday of the writer, who spent eight years as a district judge in Heiligenstadt between 1856 and 1864.

The Geislede, the river that flows into the Leine at the edge of the park, plunges about seven meters down the sandstone in the spa park. Theodor Storm was inspired by this natural waterfall for the famous story "The Regentrude". The Leine originates here in the middle of Leinefelde. The source consists of many individual source rivers.

Today's St. Cyriakus church was built in 1750 under Pastor Cyriakus Frankenberg in place of the old one and has been extensively renovated since 1998. Immediately around the Werdigeshausen Church there are 19 stately linden trees that were planted around 250 years ago when the church was built and are now designated as natural monuments.

Attention ‼️ The Touringen stamp “Maienwand” is not there. If you walk the jungle path, which we did, you will miss the “Maienwand” stamp and have to go back from the viewpoint. 🤷‍♂️ The box hangs at the junction of the Leine-Werra-Weg and is called “Maienwand”, even though it is quite a distance away.
