This is the source of the Leine and also the starting point of the Leine-Heide cycle path from Leinefelde to Hamburg. The route goes through Heiligenstadt, Göttingen, Hanover, Soltau and many other places.

The leash rises in the south of the Thuringian Eichsfeld in Leinefelde, today part of the community Leinefelde-Worbis. Seven to twelve differently productive sources are named in the place. Another source arm rises about 700 m east of the source area between the Trift road and the western edge of the station area. After 460 m of flow from the horticulturally designed spring in the old town, the city line merges with the longest of the source streams (Wikipedia).
