From the Kybfelsen, you have impressive views over Freiburg, the Dreisamtal Valley, and, on a clear day, all the way to the Vosges Mountains. The rock lies above the Sternwald Forest and is a popular rest stop—perfect for a panoramic break or a sunset photo.

This section has finally been repaved (July 2023), so you can ride down it on a racing bike – to the first farm on the right – without having to stress about finding usable gaps between the potholes. The fact that this was actually completed in our country within four weeks as announced thanks to the full road closure gives us hope again 🙂. Bravo and thanks to the planners and road builders! This is also good for the uphill section, of course, but it's less important. The next section is supposedly scheduled to be resurfaced in 2024. We'll see.

From Bad Krozingen up via the Münstertal, then the dilapidated road surface is no problem and then back via Badenweiler. Nice evening tour with very little traffic. Departure to Badenweiler is very good

Nice panorama, not too steep but the surface could be better for the descent! But it should possibly be renewed in 2022/23...

The Schauinsland deserves its name - from the observation tower on the summit, when the weather is nice, there are wonderful views in all directions, over the surrounding Black Forest mountains and valleys, over the Rhine Valley to the Vosges and into the Swiss Alps.

This side is more suitable for going up than for going downhill (road surface).

Enjoy a cool drink and the view on the terrace of the mountain station! The brunch is also highly recommended.

Highly recommended slope. From the Dekan-Strohmaier-Haus junction, the slope really starts, from there to the second bend it is definitely steep but manageable, then a little flatter and from the third bend there is also new flooring.

Great climb from Freiburg to the Schauinsland. You don't have to go up to the lookout tower to get a view of the valley. Shortly below the mountain station or at the mountain station you have a clear view down to Freiburg and to the Vosges.
