There is a very great circular route around the Innerstetalsperre. On one side you drive on the Innersteradweg and on the other side you drive directly along the dam. There you can enjoy the fantastic views of the Innerste Dam on one of the numerous benches or cycle straight down to the water and take a refreshing swim 💦

An approximately 7 km long circular path for pedestrians and cyclists leads around the Innerstetalsperre. Water sports and swimming are permitted, and there are also restaurants and plenty of benches with beautiful views of the dam. The 750 m long dam is the longest dam in the Harz.

The Innerstetalsperre is a dam of the innermost located in the northwest of the Harz Mountains between Langelsheim, Wolfshagen and Lautenthal. It was built between 1963 and 1966 and belongs to the Harzwasserwerke. Their purpose is drinking water supply, flood protection, low-water elevation and power generation. The average annual discharge from the Innerstetalsperre is 60 million m³.

It is beautiful around here. You can reach the place by bike, car or on foot. It's great for a walk or camping at the campsite.

On a hike 🥾 from Bodenstein to the grotto / hunting lodge, you pass many beautiful rock cliffs 🪨 in the forest 🌳. They can be admired in different sizes 😊. Very beautiful forest paths, some of them narrow and overgrown, lead to the cliffs!
