The small spring is one of the highlights of the Vögelsgärten circular trail around Guntersblum. Over a distance of 10 kilometers, you can experience all the landscape features of the Rhine terrace.

The renaturalized Selz River near Schafhausen is a prime example of successful nature conservation in Rheinhessen. This section of the Selz River south of Alzey-Schafhausen has undergone extensive ecological enhancement in recent years – and you'll notice this immediately when you walk along it.

The renaturation is really bearing fruit here! We were surprised that the water level in the area is unusually high. Now we have found the cause in the form of a 1.20 m high beaver dam. The beaver has thus created an ideal habitat for itself.
