Super beautiful waterfall, parking at the waterfall costs €5. Right after the town, there is a hiking car park with a parking ticket (80 cents/hour), but only card payments are possible. Then you can hike along the river to the waterfall.

ATTENTION ⚠: the access road to the waterfall (Triglavska Cesta) is being renovated and cannot or may not be driven on from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. At this time there is construction. Unfortunately, there is no date by when the construction work will be completed. Maybe just take it into account in the next few days/weeks. Maybe someone can let you know when it's done 😉. Oh and the parking fee is currently waived because the hut is closed. I think that also has something to do with the construction work. After 5 p.m. you can drive to the waterfall behind. We were all alone but 🤫😉

Vintgar also features two very interesting elements that were built by man. The dam, from which the water flows to the small Vintgar hydroelectric power station below Šum, and the stone arch bridge of the Bohinj Railway, built in 1905, which crosses the 53 meter wide gorge 33.5 meters above the road. If you are lucky enough to see the train go over the bridge while visiting the gorge.

Always worth a visit. Parking fee of € 3 for 2 hours is absolutely reasonable, otherwise admission is free.
