A small forest near Trebuieni. It was the beginning of November when I was here and the forest was in its autumn splendor. A forest with small deciduous trees on the mountain where you can also enjoy a wonderful view over the valley.

Here you have a great view over the valley towards Butuceni. The vastness and the landscape are fascinating.

As I took my first steps toward Orheiul Vechi, the ancient city, I felt like I was strolling through the pages of a history book come to life. This place, nestled in the protected area of the Parcul Național Orhei, is a time capsule carefully guarded by nature. With each step along the winding paths, I felt the modern world behind me shrinking and I delving deeper into the past. The landscape around me was breathtaking - a harmonious interplay of natural beauty and the traces of ancient civilizations. The earth itself seemed to tell stories, from the Paleolithic to the Eneolithic to the Iron Age. I couldn't help but wonder what secrets lay hidden here, beneath my feet. As I reached the site that once housed the Geto-Dacian Fortress, I scanned the ruins and tried to imagine what life might have been like here thousands of years ago. The remains of the earthen and wooden fortresses that once proudly dominated the landscape spoke of a time so far away and yet tangibly close. My journey continued to Mănăstirea Peştera, the cave monastery, which nestled in the landscape like a hidden jewel. The sight of the hermitage carved into the rock was simply magical. It was as if time stood still here, a sacred place of peace and reflection that has been attracting pilgrims and hikers alike since the 14th century. I sat down on one of the rocks and let my gaze wander over the vastness of the landscape. From up here I could see the remains of the Golden Horde fortress and the Moldovan town of Orheiul Vechi. The history of this place is multi-layered and complex, a mosaic of different civilizations that have left their mark.

The past and nature combine

You can walk the path around the lake very well and enjoy the view. The Îazul Dănceni is a reservoir with a capacity of 4 million cubic meters of water. Its area is 2.2 square kilometers. There are also many anglers and those seeking relaxation at the site. In spring you hear birdsong, which invites you to just stop and listen. Just enjoying time. You can also easily reach the lake from Chișinău with trolleybus no. 36 from the center of the city, so you can get there without much stress.

Pohorela is a landscaped and protected territory where there are 10 or more centuries-old oaks. Also many species of birds find their shelter.

It is a protected place on the territory of which there are several Secular Oaks. They have an impressive height and diameter. The bark of these oaks is also thick and shaky, forming deep channels. Also near this Pohorela you can find several species of birds that can soothe you with their songs.

This cherry oak tree is more than 550 years old. Very impressing and massive tree. Oaks bark is very bumpy, it's the sign of its age. Found this oak accidentally while cycle touring, but will definitely visit this place once per season to take pictures of this oak. Also is a good place to have a rest in the shade. Please take care of this oak, vere are not so many oaks that reached this age.
