The tower of the Turk's fall collapsed. With it, the crescent moon at the top also fell into the depths (the district papers reported). Now the crescent could be found. GLEISSENFELD (ts/e_peinsipp). The Turk's Fall is a landmark that can be seen from afar for the nature park and the hiking area with historical significance. But recently part of the ruin, which was artificially created over 200 years ago, collapsed. Parts of the boulders rolled through the forest to the hiking trails that began in the valley. Now the long-lost crescent that sat at the top of the Turk's Fall Tower could be handed over to the community again. On the slope of the Heuberg, a high rock rises up in the middle of the forest, the "Devil's Castle". The woodcutters like to set up camp there for the night. One evening two woodcutters were sitting in the inn and playing cards. At midnight the landlord closed and both had to go back to the night camp. Once there, someone said: If there was a third person there, we could continue playing here on the rock. "Suddenly a sinister fellow stood by them and said," I'll play along! Shuffle the cards! " After a short time, the stranger had taken all of the money from both of them. She wanted to stop, but he spoke. "What for money? We played for your soul." While shuffling a card, a woodcutter fell to the ground. When he picked it up, he saw that the stranger had a horse's foot! "Jesus, Mary, the devil!" he cried out in horror. At the same moment there was a terrible bang and the creepy was gone.

When you have reached the top of the Türkensturz, you have such a great view of the Schneeberg and Hohe Wand if the weather is right. It takes about 1 - 1/5 hours from Seebenstein train station.

This tree formation was not created by browsing game or geological disturbances, but by human hands. When they were young, they served as fence borders, and the still young branches were tied together and grew into their current shape.

The legend of the fall of the Turks. It was on a late summer evening in 1683 when someone knocked very violently on the front door of one of the vineyard houses on the Hochrieß. A girl opened the door and saw a group of Turkish soldiers in front of her. Pale with horror, the girl ran across the courtyard into the stable and out the stable door to the Hochrieß. There was thick fog there. A Turk had spotted the fleeing girl and was rushing after him on his horse. He almost got there. Then, in fear of death, the girl slipped into a bush near the steep slope near the Hochrieß and had disappeared from the Turkish rider. He continued to blast on his horse in the fog and fell over the steep slope into the depths. Since then, this place has been called the “Turks Fall”. The "person" that the Turks chased up to the fall of the Turks was on the farm Weinberg 3, Sturmlechner, Dirn. Taken from the Purgstaller themed trail folder, published by Gerhard Punz, 2009
