In spring and fall, a visit to the Kranorama is definitely worthwhile. Visitors can expect a magnificent spectacle. Hundreds to thousands of cranes and geese gather in the meadows, calling, hooting, honking, and fluttering around, flying away and returning. There's also great information on the information boards and from the friendly rangers on hand.

As I drove past, loud birdsong drew my attention to the island, where various birds can breed and rest in peace.

At the beginning, it's a very nice bike path with excellent asphalt. The middle section becomes a dirt road, which could be bumpy for narrow tires. After that, it's back to good asphalt. The scenery and tranquility are fantastic.

One might ask how dunes are formed so far inland... The answer would be: during the last ice age, during centuries of thawing, these fine sands were transported into the lagoon by meltwater rivers and then piled up by the wind.

The Bernsteinsee is located west of Körkwitz in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. The body of water is a gravel lake and is about 13 hectares in size. The lake is located in the eastern part of the town of Ribnitz-Damgarten and in the west of the municipality of Dierhagen. The Bersteinsee was created by the accumulation of groundwater in a gravel mine and is now used for tourism.
