Beautiful gardens. While the entrance fee is €7.50 per person, it's not free, but the grounds are extremely well-maintained, completely litter-free, and clean. While there's no catering, there's a decent coffee machine in the entrance area that provides a decent enough cappuccino for €2.00. Restroom facilities are bonfortionable. Numerous less kitschy souvenirs—apparently aimed at "garden lovers"—are available, as well as food items with a "farm shop" feel.

At the top of Tankenberg is a small chapel. From there, you can enjoy a sublime view of the valley, which is rather unusual for the Netherlands.

Since March 2025, a new shoot has grown in the remains of the trunk. (see photo)

The solitary tree has been cut down! 😢

The almost 500-year-old oak is one of the oldest and most famous trees in the Netherlands. The "Kroezeboom" stands north of Fleringen and was formerly used as a border marker and place of pilgrimage. In the 16th and 17th centuries there was already a field chapel here. Nowadays, occasional events take place here, and it is even an official wedding venue.
