The Dijkgatbos remains a great 8km to work on your cornering technique without any dips. You don't gain any altitude, so it is also very suitable as a family route. But if you ride at a bit of a pace, you will still get a nice piece of cake. The parking lot can be pleasantly busy with riders, hikers, and mountain bikers. But because everyone has their own paths, you won't notice the crowds as soon as you enter the forest. On quiet days and with a bit of luck, you will even encounter a few deer or a fox. Congratulations, you made it to the top. But what goes up must come down again. The final descent of 20% is fairly steep by polder standards. There is no way back, outside the MTB route you are not allowed to cycle. So stand on your pedals in attack position. Keep the center of your weight above the bottom bracket. (your navel) And dose your brakes well so that you go down quietly. Is descending all a piece of cake? Release the brakes and go! There is not only the beautiful lookout tower here. Right next to it is an open-air theatre, a small climbing park, an animal enclosure and a cozy restaurant that invites you to rest. A small circular route of the nearby nature reserve is signposted.
