For several decades, southern Luxembourg and the landscape around Tétange were marked by the mining of iron ore, also known as "minette," thus giving the region its name. The Minette Trail follows the iron ore's journey over several stages, from the extraction sites high in the hills to the railway tracks leading out of the valley. Enjoy this trail through the remarkable landscape of former mines and hills, which offer panoramic views of the Kayl Valley and the impressive red cliffs.

For a century, the minette was mined in the open air at Haard. While vegetation has reclaimed its rights, the red cliffs bear witness to its past as a mining site. The Haard nature reserve is the largest in the country, and its paths lend themselves to hours of exploration by bike.

Intense red, rugged cliffs rise up next to the cycle path. The color is due to the ore. Really special!

One of the best and most beautiful nature reserves in the Minett region, the "Léiffrächen" nature reserve combines wonderful views and red rock faces with lush and dense forests and wide areas of dry grassland. The nearby National Miners' Memorial and the pilgrimage site "Léiffrächen" complete the nature reserve so closely linked to the region's industrial past.
