To travel around the entire area around the Dune of Pilat is to immerse oneself in the enormous fire that ravaged the town of La Teste-de-Buch. All the pine forests have disappeared and have given way to immense expanses of ferns and heather prior to reforestation. A desolate environment that one travels through in amazement.
