This gravel path was named after Jonas Vlayen, a 23-year-old man who was stabbed in the driveway of his home in Budingen in 2018. At the bridge, you can read words of comfort, so that everyone who passes by remembers Jonas. A beautiful path where you can find peace in the stunning landscape.

A small chapel hidden in nature...

Neatly tidied and renovated since my last visit. Sometimes the moisture on the window can obscure Hymelinus from view. Those who are here for the pilgrimage or want to know more can, however, visit Hymelinus' reliquary in the church of Sint-Martens-Vissenaken and, of course, see his image and light a candle, as has been done for centuries. The goal is for the helmets to become part of the landscape, almost part of nature. The information board (see photo) compares them to dolmens and menhirs overgrown with moss, grass, and so on. A permanent resting place. But that's not quite the case yet. The helmet park, established in 2018, is beautifully maintained, and even after being almost completely submerged in 2021 (the site also serves as a retention basin), many helmets still look quite good, and you can still see many of the creations. In memory of the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, 44 concrete helmets were made and placed at one of the locations where the Battle of the Silver Helmets took place. Each helmet represents a Limburg municipality and is decorated by local artists, associations and schools.
