The summit is easily reachable with good training, the path is never dangerous or exposed, if you continue the tour towards Cima Larici you must pay close attention to the steep descent

From the Barricata refuge it is a 10 minute mountain bike ride on a gentle climb on a dirt road. Or you continue on the asphalt road and arrive at the foot of the mountain. Then walk for 5 minutes.

The work of Marco Martalar, “The Vaia di Marcesina eagle”, with its 7 meters in height and 5 in length, and weighing 1,600 kilograms, is the largest wooden eagle in Europe. To make it, the artist from Roana used 1800 vines, 100 meters of larch boards and murals covered with 1500 pieces of roots and other material collected within a radius of one km. It was created to commemorate the terrible catastrophe that destroyed entire woods on the plain of Marcesina, which later became the site of the largest forest construction site in Europe. The Eagle represents the force of nature that has been unleashed here with enormous aggressiveness and power.

Mount Caina (1,002 m) is a splendid panoramic balcony, thanks to its privileged and unique location, right on the southeastern corner of the Asiago Plateau. It offers a sweeping view of the entire Po Valley, from the Lessini Mountains to the Upper Adriatic. In the foreground is Bassano and the entrance to the Brenta Valley. To the left, the vertical, rocky western slope of the Grappa massif, with the profile of the Shrine atop it. On clear days, you can clearly see Venice itself, and even the bell tower of St. Mark's Basilica! The site is meticulously maintained: a green lawn, a cross, an Italian flag, a black statue dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, benches, and—the icing on the cake—a powerful pair of binoculars (free) for hunting for details and places, both well-known and lesser-known!

7월 16, 2023, Aquila di Vaia di Marcesina
A spectacular, proud, and commanding work by artist Marco Martalar, created on site with branches, trunks, and roots from trees felled by Storm Vaia in the fall of 2018, which was particularly devastating in the Marcesina Plain. This continues the sculptor's series of "Vaia Works," following the Lavarone Dragon, the Lagorai Wolf, the Winged Lion, and many other lesser-known works listed on his website. Commissioned by the municipality of Grigno—we are in Trentino—the eagle is a symbol of the Province of Trento; furthermore, this was the border between the Kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, of which the bird of prey was an effigy. Last but not least, the eagle is a symbol of Nature's strength and freedom: imposing and majestic, it spreads its wings toward the horizon and directs its gaze toward the areas affected by Storm Vaia; the tree trunk wrapped between its claws represents a reclaiming of the habitat. A 100-meter larch skeleton covered with 1,500 pieces of roots and 1,800 vines, 7 meters high by 5 meters long, and weighing 1,600 kg, it is the largest wooden eagle in Europe. It will be inaugurated in summer 2023. A sculpture whose charm also lies in its transience: made of untreated wood, destined to slowly disappear over time, under the force of nature itself, until it returns to the earth. https://www.martalar.it

𝐋’𝐀𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐋𝐀 𝐃𝐈 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐀 The artist Marco Martalar creates works of art with wood felled by the terrible storm Vaia which in 2018 devastated the mountains of Veneto and Trentino. After "the dragon" and "the she-wolf of the Lagorai" this mighty eagle was installed on the Marcesina plain, near the Barricata refuge, in the Grigno area

Bivio Italia, located at the top of Val Galmarara, is a crossroads of high mountain roads (formerly military), from which a suggestive view opens onto Cima XII and the desolate karst environment that surrounds it, with vegetation consisting almost exclusively of mountain pines. During the Great War, it was an important crossroads between grandiose roads built by the Austro-Hungarian army, to supply the front line with men and vehicles: the 'Kaiser Karl Straße' passed through here, as indicated on the boundary stone, which arrived from the Monumenti crossroads, passed through the logistics base of Campo Gallina and reached the foot of Ortigara. https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mecenseffystraße https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaiser_Karl_Straße

Mount Portule ('Pòrtel' in Cimbrian or 'Kempel' in German) is a long, massive ridge stretching toward the Valsugana Valley: its elongated, austere, barren, and sharp profile is unmistakable and easily recognizable even from very distant peaks. At 2,308 meters, it is the third highest peak on the Asiago Plateau, after Cima XII and Monte Trentin. Thanks to its height, position, and shape, the 360° panorama from the summit is breathtaking: to the north, the Valsugana Valley, the Lagorai mountains, and the Dolomites; to the east, the Vicenza Prealps, Folgaria, and Becco di Filadonna; to the south, the entire Asiago Plateau; on clear days, you can even see the Venice Lagoon. On the western side, a steep and strenuous trail climbs rapidly from Cima Larici; To the south, a picturesque trail, known as the 'Filon,' runs along the long ridge to Bocchetta Portule. Owing to its dominant and central position, it was a contested peak during the Great War: initially in Italian hands, it was conquered by the Austro-Hungarians with the Strafexpedition of May 1916. The remains of three cableways are visible on the summit; at Bocchetta Portule, a gun emplacement is located in a cave to block passage from the Val d'Assa. https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cima_Portule

3월 24, 2023, Monte Ortigara Memorial
Scene of one of the most dramatic and bloody episodes of the Great War: between June 10 and 29, 1917, thousands of Italian soldiers were hurled en masse to conquer Mount Ortigara, from the steep eastern slope, toward certain death. The Austro-Hungarians, in a clearly favorable position, decimated the attackers with machine guns, gas, and flamethrowers. A needless massacre of 28,000 Italian soldiers and 9,000 Imperial soldiers. Since those tragic events, the mountain has been nicknamed "the Calvary of the Alpine Troops." The first National Alpine Rally took place here in 1920. In 1967, the entire area was recognized as a "Sacred Zone to the Fatherland," for the futile sacrifice made and as a lasting reminder "not to forget." https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Ortigara https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battaglia_del_monte_Ortigara
