Wild but at the same time not far from Cavalese and Castello di Fiemme, this waterfall anticipates by a few dozen meters the flow of the Val Moena stream into the Avisio. It has a great sound and visual impact, certainly one of the best waterfalls in the area.

Impressive erosion

The Cavalese waterfall is fed by the Rio Val Moena, which rises in the beautiful mountain valley of the same name. It is interesting to watch how its water falls over the edge of the rocks about 20m into the depths. It looks as if it is pointing an index finger towards the sky. If you watch it from the bridge, at the outlet, you are impressed by the unbridled power of nature and feel the fine spray on your face. Several short and longer (circular) paths lead around the waterfall.

Wonderful place, as is the path to get there from Lagorai lake

The three lakes of Bombasel are small but suggestive alpine basins set in wild nature. They are located in the Lagorai valley and offer a spectacular view of the Dolomites. This is a perfect spot to enjoy a well-deserved break.

From this panoramic point, not far from Piazzo, it is possible to observe the pyramids of Segonzano in all their grandeur. They are called òmeni in the local dialect due to their resemblance to human beings. They were formed about 50,000 years ago thanks to the erosive action of water on the ground.

Today all that remains of Castelfeder is a few suggestive ruins. In the 13th century, however, it had been an important castle built by the lords of Enna. It stood on a hill between the current municipalities of Ora, Egna and Montagna. All around the castle ruins there is a larger area where there are remains of other buildings dating back to various eras. Everything is immersed in the so-called Castelfeder biotope, a protected natural area covering 108 hectares.
