10월 19, 2025, Scenic Winding Road
Starting just outside the town of San Giuseppe Jato, this stretch of provincial road 20 climbs up to the picturesque Portella della Paglia pass, in a succession of hairpin bends and breathtaking views. The surface isn't perfect, but you can pedal safely even on a small section of landslide, which is well-marked. Tackled in autumn/winter, it almost feels like you're not in Sicily.

4월 16, 2025, View of Castellammare del Golfo
Spectacular views of Castellammare del Golfo and the entire coastline! Ideal as a stopover on a road bike tour along the SP63 or SP187. The climb is short but challenging – about 2km with a gradient of approximately 6–8%, but you'll be rewarded with a truly postcard-perfect view. Tip: It's best to start in the morning or late afternoon – the light is at its best and there's less traffic. Perfect for a quick drink and a photo break – there's plenty of room to stop safely. Caution: No shade and no water source – refill beforehand! The road surface is good, but watch out for loose stones on the descent.

10월 15, 2024, Meravigliosa vista su Salemi
History, culture and breathtaking views of the hilly surroundings are all mixed here. The view of the Norman-Swabian castle that towers over the town is particularly impressive - a perfect destination after a challenging stage. The climb, especially in the Monte delle Rose district, is quite demanding, but the reward is worth it: a spectacular view of the old town and the castle. Salemi is not only a visual highlight, but also steeped in history. In May 1860, Giuseppe Garibaldi briefly proclaimed Salemi the first capital of a united Italy - even if the title only lasted for one day. This town combines the legacy of a turbulent past with the charm of a typical Sicilian village, which lies about 400 meters above sea level. Salemi not only offers a historical insight, but also a challenging but worthwhile route through the rural region. When you drive through the winding streets here, you can literally feel how history and the present merge into one another.

10월 15, 2024, Castellammare del Golfo
Castellammare del Golfo has a very special appeal for cyclists. The winding roads, surrounded by rolling hills and overlooking the turquoise sea, offer both sporting challenges and great panoramas. In particular, the ride down to the port, where the old town and the impressive 9th century sea castle are located, gives an intense sense of history and authenticity. It is also interesting to note that this town supported Garibaldi in his mission to unify Italy, which adds an additional historical incentive to any stop here. Once down in the port, it is the perfect opportunity to take a break, perhaps in one of the cafes that line the charming promenade. Another highlight for cyclists are the varied routes that lead up the gently rising roads to viewpoints such as Monte Inici. From there you have a fabulous view of the entire gulf and the town. Despite the sometimes narrow and steep roads, the climb is definitely worth it, even if it can get a little hectic at times. For those who need a refreshment after a bike ride, the port is the ideal opportunity to stretch your legs and enjoy the atmosphere of the Sicilian coastal town.

10월 14, 2024, View of Castellammare del Golfo
On this route, you'll pass a viewpoint that offers arguably the most beautiful view of Castellammare del Golfo. The town practically lies at your feet, and the combination of the deep blue sea and the tightly packed houses of the old town has something calming about it that simultaneously invites you to linger. It's worth dismounting for a moment, taking a deep breath, and taking in the scenery. Caution: The road here can be busy, so it's best to drive with extra caution, especially on descents. However, the view definitely makes up for the few strenuous meters of elevation gain. If you like, take some time for a short break and savor the moment before continuing on.

10월 14, 2024, Segesta Archaeological Park
The Doric Temple of Segesta is impressively embedded in the hills of Sicily and invites not only history lovers to take a walk into the past. The unfinished construction gives the temple a rough look, but that is precisely what makes it so attractive - the columns still have the original protective layer that would normally have been removed after completion. The hiking trail up rewards you with a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape and the Gulf of Castellammare. What I particularly liked: From the temple, a beautiful path leads further up to the theater, which is located on the top of the hill. If you choose to walk instead of taking the shuttle, you will be rewarded with many smaller discoveries and fantastic views. The entire complex exudes a special calm - it is a place that invites you to linger and makes history tangible. The magic of the ancient site can be enjoyed wonderfully here, especially in the off-season, when there is less going on.

7월 30, 2024, Garibaldi House Museum
Adjacent to the municipal building is the Garibaldi House Museum, formerly Pampalone, an authentic treasure chest of homeland and Risorgimento history rich in documents and relics of the famous Battle of Calatafimi on 15 May 1860. Inside it is possible to visit the rooms where Garibaldi, the Hero of the Two Worlds, found shelter and refreshment in those troubled days in which the fate of the nascent Italy was decided thanks to the commitment of a thousand and more picciotti, and to which numerous patriotic citizens of Calatafimi certainly did not lack their courage and support in the undertaking. From the balcony of this building which was the home of Antonino Pampalone, parish priest and fervent liberal, Giuseppe Garibaldi spoke to the crowd gathered on 16 May 1860 after the clash with the Bourbon army.
