    If you pass by here, do not miss a visit to this masterpiece of Norman art. The Cathedral of Monreale was built in the 12th century by order of King William II. Its interior houses splendid Byzantine mosaics and a large cloister.

            After cycling for kilometers among the Sicilian hills, the Cathedral of Monreale stands majestically over the city, an unmissable stop for the Sicily Divide cyclist.

            The facade with its towers and the decorated portal leaves you speechless, but it is when you cross the threshold that you are left breathless.

            Golden mosaics cover the walls, creating an atmosphere of quiet and sacredness. Christ Pantocrator dominates the apse with his severe gaze.

            Every corner of the Cathedral is a masterpiece of art and architecture: sculpted capitals, inlaid floors, white marble pulpit.

            From the steps of the Duomo you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Conca d'Oro and Palermo.

            Tips for the cyclist:

            Visit early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowds.
            Paid entrance fee.
            Climb the bell tower for a panoramic view.
            At the Mirto bar, in addition to the stamp on the Divider's Pass, you can enjoy granitas and coffee.
