The best time to ride is on the annual Stelvio Bike Day, the last Saturday in August. The pass is closed to cars and motorcycles on all three sides (Prad, Bormio, and Münster (CH)) from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It's a real festival for cyclists. No registration required, no entry fee, and refreshment stations along the route!

It was the best route for me. After passing the Stelvio, it then descended back through Switzerland. You can find the route on my Komoot profile. GRVL_Harz
