Leucopetra (from the Greek "white stone") is primarily an ancient and significant Greco-Roman toponym, referring to a rocky promontory in Calabria, near Reggio Calabria, known for its Capo d'Armi lighthouse and for having been a historical and geographical landmark, but the term may also refer to a locality near Corinth (Greece) and, by mythological extension, to the sea goddess Leucothea.

The main attraction of the Villa Comunale is the Botanical Garden, which houses particular and exotic plants. Along the avenues we find numerous specimens of luxuriant palm trees, ficus trees, magnolias, banana trees, pepper, rubber and camphor trees and the bottle tree. Among the rarest plants you can admire some specimens of Auricaria, including Auricaria bidwillii and Auricaria excelsa, the Chorisia insignis (or anti-monkey tree), the Ficus elastica (or rubber tree), the Ficus Macrophilla, the Nolina recurvata (or elephant's foot), the Dracaena draco (or trunk of happiness), Judas trees, carob trees and numerous species of flowers. Beautiful almost abandoned ancient village, it is part of the English route

Located 250 meters above sea level, Mount Calvario rises above the village of Pentedattilo which takes its name from its shape, namely the five fingers of a gigantic hand.

A village with an ancient history, apparently abandoned, in reality small solid artisan businesses live inside the village, which alone are worth a visit to the place. I recommend the circumnavigation of Monte Calvario, which makes the visit to the village more complete. The stretch of single track trail on the NW side is beautiful

The Rocche di Prastarà or prasterà is a site of considerable historical and geological interest, south of Montebello and Masella. Miocene sedimentary rocks between whose blocks there are ravines and caves where San'Elia di Enna, known as "the Younger" lived in 800 AD. retreated into prayer and meditation. A beautiful park not far from the Reggio FS Centrale station, the garden is well-tended and has a small pond with goldfish.
