The Allgäu Alps offer a diverse mountain landscape with rolling hills, rugged cliffs, and striking peaks like the Nebelhorn, the Kanzelwand, and the Großer Widderstein. 🏞️ In spring and summer, the mountains are ablaze with lush greenery and vibrant alpine flowers; in autumn, they display warm gold and red hues; and in winter, they are blanketed in snow – a constantly captivating display of color. 🍃🍂❄️

In the background, imposing peaks rise, encircling the valley like a protective cloak and creating a spectacular backdrop. 🏔️⛰️

The Hühnermoos raised bog was formed after the last Ice Age. The melting glacier left behind a so-called dead-ice hole—a hollow in which a small lake initially formed, and where the melting glacial ice could no longer drain away. The peat in the lake formed from dying marsh grasses, which then gradually silted up.

The artificial lake looks nicely integrated into the landscape.

The Melköde Alpe, at 1,346 m, is a mountain pasture with a refreshment stop. The Schwarzwassertal valley runs with a relatively flat gradient from the bottom up to this point and then begins to climb steeply towards the Schwarzwasserhütte.

Very popular hiking trail! Currently, warnings indicate the danger of rockfall (walking and cycling at your own risk).
