Oaks were planted in this coastal planting to prevent sand drift. If you follow the beautiful oak path and then turn right, you will come to Store Løvklit. Here, too, oaks were planted to prevent sand drift. However, they were overrun by a shifting dune. The oaks are so resilient that their crowns keep banging through the sand. That's why the dune is also called Store Løvklit = Big Deciduous Dune. A narrow path leads there through the oak crowns and it is almost like walking over a treetop path.

In the north, the beach is characterized by the well-known wildness that can be found in large stretches of the Danish North Sea coast. It is therefore recommended not to swim here, as the current can be extremely strong. But it is precisely these high waves and strong winds that make the beach perfect for other activities, such as looking for amber on a long beach walk at Horns Rev.
