Lake Kolima is a popular fishing destination with frequent competitions. Stop off here and follow the track down to the lake where you can have a rest, take in the views and go for a swim.

Leave your bike at the bottom and walk up to the tower where you can get spectacular views of the surrounding lakes. Perched atop Savivuori hill in Viitasaari, the Savivuori Observation Tower is a reconstructed 1958 landmark that offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including Lake Keitele. The tower is open during the summer months, but visitors can still enjoy scenic vistas from the top of the hill year-round.

Viitasaari’s historic wooden church, rebuilt in 1878 and restored by Alvar Aalto in 1925, makes for a picturesque and peaceful mid-ride stop. Step inside to glimpse its unique tin candlesticks and sense echoes of centuries-old traditions beside a sacred piece of local art and history.

Built as a so-called fitness staircase, this staircase up to the observation tower lives up to its promise. Your effort will be rewarded with a magnificent view as you climb the steps.

The lean-to shelter is located on a beautiful open rock hill. You can reach it either by completing the entire route or by taking a shortcut, which makes the distance about one kilometer. It’s recommended to bring your own firewood.
