Numerous mills were powered by the water of the Warme Steinach. The Fulling Mill in the Laineck district of Bayreuth was built before 1728 as a marble mill and is still in operation as a gristmill. Small, privately operated hydroelectric power plants exist in Mittlernhammer near Sophienthal and at the Döhlauer Graben in Friedrichsthal. With this weir the Kornbach is dammed for the large pond. After the weir the water falls down - a small waterfall is created.

The small stream flows over the bare rock here. The humus layer has been completely removed. The water cascades down almost like a waterfall. Circular hiking trail 2 from Sophiental leads past here. You can take a detour from circular hiking trail 5.
