The Riesbach, which flows together from several streams, falls into the valley at a total height of 55m as Riesloch Falls through the gorge called Riesloch. In the upper part, electricity has been generated by the power of water since 1908. The Riesloch Falls are a wonderful natural spectacle in the middle of vegetation that is reminiscent of a jungle.

The water of the wild Ilse flows loudly down the valley over a multitude of small and large cascade-like natural waterfalls. Over the millennia, nature has created a truly impressive, interconnected attraction of rock and water. You can always discover beautiful views and enjoy nature at various rest areas.

Very beautiful there. You can observe animals and one or the other skilful boat driver at the boat slide. 😁 In summer, the spray from the barrages is wonderfully refreshing.

The RUHR is scenically one of the most beautiful German rivers. It is framed by meadows and wooded hills. The Ruhr is now also one of the cleanest German industrial rivers, with hardly anything left of heavy industry and collieries.

Impressive gorge that is especially good for hiking in summer, as there is always a pleasant coolness there. Not recommended in the winter months due to snow and black ice.

The Bodekessel can be hiked from Thale via the Königsruhe inn and the Teufelsbrücke. 🧑🦯
