Impressive basalt quarry and rest area with a witch's cottage in the Tharandt Forest. Information: In the old quarry (in operation until 1913), basalt is exposed over a length of 80 meters and an average height of 16 meters. The striking formation of the predominantly five- to six-sided columns led the Saxon authorities to designate it a natural monument as early as 1939. The quarry, with its small "witch's cottage," is a popular destination for day trips.

Very nice hiking area in Klingenberg around the Huthaus am alignment shaft. The Huthaus am Richtschacht is a small wooden hut with comfortable seating that invites you to take a break and to store it in case of rain, not far from it is the village church Höckendorf to the south.
