A small stone hut crouches on the mountainside, the grey slate stones are overgrown with moss in the joints, giving the hut the appearance of being a natural part of the landscape. A narrow path winds up the slope to the hut.

The Griesbachfelsen is the most impressive rock formation on this route. It's not just the fantastic view of the deep, beautiful Schwarzatal that makes the journey up here worth it; this rock was dedicated to Professor of the Theological Faculty in Jena, Johann Jakob Griesbach.

There has recently been a new shelter here with several benches and a small table. Looks great 👍. There is even a brochure about how the hut was built (just in front of the hut).
