Travanca Lagoons, a beautiful natural haven in Peneda-Gerês National Park: They are located in the parish of Cabana Maior, municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, within Peneda-Gerês National Park. The landscape is characterized by emerald green waters, a granite setting, and lush forest. They consist of a succession of lagoons and waterfalls fed by the Travanca River, which originates in the Serra do Soajo mountain range and flows into the Ázere River.

Peneda Waterfall, located next to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peneda: It is located in the parish of Gavieira, municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, within the Peneda-Gerês National Park. It has a drop of 30 meters, visible from afar thanks to its white spray. The waters fall just behind the former dormitories of the Sanctuary, now converted into the Hotel Peneda, and flow under the building before joining the Peneda River.

Fantastic place to spend the day swimming, you'll love it

The entire complex is well worth seeing. It features numerous old mills lined up next to each other. The valley was once covered with mills from top to bottom. Even today, it's still an exciting complex, even though most of it has fallen into disrepair, the structure is still clearly recognizable.

Today without any water, what a shame.

A very beautiful place with several waterfalls visible in spring or early summer. With the heat and lack of rain, the place dries out.

The Cascata da Peneda is a seasonal waterfall above the Santuario de Nossa in Peneda (Gavieira). Especially in spring, its sudden surges of water occasionally endanger the hotel and the grounds of the sanctuary.
