The so-called tea house at Nöbdenitzer Teich is a replica of the historical original. It used to be in the private garden of the manor owners. On the occasion of the Federal Garden Show in 2007, the Nöbdenitz local beautification association rebuilt the historic tea house between the ponds after over 60 years. Today the tea house is a popular rest and picnic area right on the Sprotte adventure trail. From here you have a wonderful view of the pond with island, the former Nöbdenitz moated castle and the church in the background. The ice ponds are a group of 3 ponds lying next to each other. They are considered popular fishing waters. In 1875 Rudolf Zersch leased the brewery from Prince Reuß-Köstritz. In order to keep the beer cool in the summer months, Rudolf Zersch also created the “Small Ice Pond”. There was no longer enough ice to cool beer above the “Weiße Elster” weir. There is now a vegetated island in the middle of the pond. There was originally a monument on the island around 1806 made of stacked rock with a sarcophagus designed by the Berlin architect Friedrich. It was called “Amalienstein”. The “Amalienstein” was destroyed after 1945. Some of its stones lie invisibly at the foot of the island in the pond water. Source: http://www.av-aga-koestritz.de/html/eisteiche_bad_kostritz.html
