Association of the Haberer.The former county of Hohenwaldeck, with its centre in Miesbach, is considered the centre of the Haberfeldtreiben, a popular justice system in the Oberland. From here, the custom of "judging oneself" spread to the neighbouring regions between the Isar and Inn, Tyrol and Munich. "Haberfeldtreiben" was the name given to this mysterious peasant court of reprimand, which pilloried dissolute women, perjured farmers, fraudulent traders or impious priests as well as malicious officials or beer adulterers.The Haberfeldtreiben, which stretches far back into the past, is first recorded in 1675 with a drive in Marbach/Leitzachtal. The last major drive - one of the largest in Haberer history - took place on the night of October 7th to 8th, 1893 in Miesbach, where around 300 Haberer engaged in a firefight with the approaching police. In total, there were 136 documented events within a 100 km radius of Miesbach, and at its peak the Habererbund had around 2000 members.
