The horseshoe-shaped "Tiefes Reitgaar" is a small natural lake south of the Lower Saxony town of Neuenhaus. This legendary and mystical body of water lies at the end of a dead-end road leading off Reitgaarstraße, called "Zufahrt Reitgaar," in the Grasdorf district. It is a refuge for waterfowl. A wooden table with two benches is provided for relaxing.

A beautiful route along the Bargerveen, where you walk or cycle through a unique raised bog area. This vast nature reserve offers a mix of open peat landscape, fens and reed fields, with plenty of opportunities to spot birds and other animals along the way.

The Bargerveen is the largest contiguous raised bog area in the Netherlands. More than 2,000 hectares remain of the once 3,000 km² Bourtanger Marsh. Here peat hills, peat moss, swamps, swamp forests and lakes form the landscape. The cycle path leads you nicely through this.
