Lake Neumühler was created by glaciers during the ice age. The lake is the habitat of the otter and belongs to the European Natura 2000 protected area system. Parts of the bank areas are legally protected biotopes.
That's the way it is. The boardwalk is impassable and the alternative is really exciting. Surefootedness and a sense of balance are required here. In really wet weather it will probably be impassable...
To the right and left of the road there are two reservoirs of the Stepenitz. As far as I know, the Stepenitz was dammed here in the 1970s. It is worth taking a short break here to enjoy nature.
