The Großer Varchentiner See is located north of the Mecklenburg Lake District in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and belongs entirely to the municipality of Groß Plasten. It covers an area of 1.81 km² and has a maximum width of 1,600 meters and a maximum length of 1,500 meters. The lake is almost entirely surrounded by a reed belt and is wooded on the southern shore, while the western shore is marshy.

It is assumed that the three castles on Lake Kastorf represented the political and cultural center of the Tollenser people.

The Wildberg Castle Wall is located in the municipality of Wildberg on the eastern shore of Lake Kastorf. It consists of a smaller main castle and two arched outer castles and was built in the 7th or 8th century. The castle complex has been repeatedly renovated and expanded over time. Together with the castle wall island on Lake Kastorf, these castles presumably form the political and cultural center of the Tollenser people.

Third time there now and a wonderful trip both summer and winter.

From this jetty at Kastorfer See, the "wide pee competition" always takes place at the end of August. The finalists meet for a morning pint to fill up their bladders. Anyone who creates a box of 11 of their choice in 2 hours even gets 30 cm credited to their pee size. A really interesting competition, which unfortunately is not publicly advertised.
