We continue along forest paths until we reach the former forester's house Rotherhof. There are no places to stop here, but at least tree trunks lying by the side of the path offer us a place to sit. When the hiker reaches this farm on the Moselsteig path towards the mouth of Koblenz on the stage from Treis-Karden to Moselkern, Eltz Castle is not yet in sight, but a large part of this high point of the tour has been made. Now it goes downhill along forest paths, at first leisurely, later steeper. When the flow of tourists increases, Burg Eltz gets closer :-)

A little above the bridge mill there is a wonderful little rest area at the "Hauerhütte" with a view over the wooded valley.

From here you can take a beautiful trail to Eltz Castle. In the lower part the trail becomes more demanding (black level).

From here there are great connections to continue the tour. The “Stiftsherrenrunden” has recently been signposted there. Whether downhill to Eltz Castle or to Kompus Käppche (box tree hiking trail), MTB lovers will get their money's worth here.

Unfortunately it was closed on Monday (like so many others) but we were able to exchange a few words with the friendly owner. She was very nice and looks forward to welcoming guests again. We will be back
