The municipality of Schweisweiler, with around 383 inhabitants, is located in the narrow valley of the river Alsenz, surrounded by steep mountains. Up here, you can enjoy a wonderful view!

"The border between the Freinsheim collective municipality [south; you can see that from the 2 benches] and Grünstadt-Land [north] runs above the Kieskautberg." 1월 4, 2024, Toter Mann Summit Cross with Skull
Origin of name according to Wikipedia: The mountain was originally called “Spießberg”. It owes its current name to two tragic events. In 1617, “a dead man” was found on the path and the Ganerben forester ordered the body to be buried on the spot. In 1787, below the mountain, in the Langental (Zwingweiler desert), “a dead man was found and is actually still lying on the blaz”. An administration examined the body and determined the cause of death to be a stroke. The dead man was a shepherd named Christoph Vollmar from Carlsberg. Popularly known as this for a long time, Bavarian maps from the period after 1830 definitively identify the mountain as the “Dead Man”.

Unfortunately, the view is severely impaired by the foliage of the trees. Maybe the view is better in winter and spring.

In summer unfortunately no view from "above", but nice to walk. Boundary stones from 1838 and 1826 can also be found on this section.

So all I see here is a heap of stones with a name and elevation. Should be a natural monument.

In the middle of the big intersection stands the stone cross. And only serves as a guide.

After the ascent, I was a little disappointed with the "summit". I would have liked a little more view here.

6월 15, 2021, Ritterstein 132: Steinernes Kreuz (1910)
According to general opinion, this cross has no religious significance. It is also not supposed to have been erected for atonement or to remind people of the suffering and hardships of the people. Like the Lambertskreuz or Johanniskreuz, for example, it stands on an old traffic route, the old elevated road, and on a border. In its present form, a tall stone cross on a pedestal bearing the inscription P.W.V. In 1910 it was erected by the Palatinate Forest Association as a knight's stone to commemorate the former "Stone Cross" in 1910.
