Bridge between Falkenstein Castle and Bivels. In the mornings you can often see anglers here. The reservoir is shrouded in fog a little longer. If you want to enjoy the view, don't come here too early

The Ourtal is always a guarantee for a varied hike in the delux nature trail. A grandiose, ancient low mountain range runs through the Ourtal. The Our proves to be a true master of landscape design. The rocky Grenzsteig along the Lätges mountain with magnificent views provides an almost alpine experience. After so much ups and downs, the Ourtalstausee - the lower basin of the pumped storage power plant - invites you to take a relaxing stroll with its promenade and the Ourstaden von Bivels. The ruins of Falkenstein Castle are enthroned on a mountain rock high above the Ourschleife. A few steps downriver resides the medieval town of Vianden with its rebuilt castle - one of the most important and mighty castles in Europe.

The artificial water basin at a height of 509 meters is used in conjunction with the reservoir in the valley to store energy in the form of water. In times when little energy is used in the form of electricity, the excess energy is used to pump the water into the upper basin. If a lot of electricity / energy is consumed, the pumped storage plant produces energy by draining water from the upper basin through the turbines and thus generating energy. So nothing more than a large battery on the mountain top. The pumped storage plant was built from 1954 to 1964 and goes back to plans from 1925.

Nice footbridge, which unfortunately leads directly along the busy street. Between the trees you always catch the Ourstausee, the sight of which compensates for the noise of the street.

Beautiful footbridge on which you hike along the Our reservoir towards Vianden. Unfortunately, the countless motorbikes are making a hell of a noise in the entire Ourtal :-(
