Unfortunately, the old farm is no longer in such good condition. There is no wood at the back, and the shutters also fall off. From the front it looks neater. There is a fountain opposite. There is a pond with a bench in a fenced area. A cross-country ski trail passes here in winter 🎿

Next to the hut there are a few steps up. From there you have a beautiful view of the Epprechtstein.

The mountain rescue hut is located in the upper third of the former ski slope. A well-used hiking trail runs below. There is a wooden lounger right next to the hut. There is a Franconian Forest trekking site above the slope.

Hühnerhöfen was deserted at times throughout its history, the remaining building is uninhabited. The place was first mentioned in 1497 and is described in the land book of the six offices from 1499 as "two half farms". Since the town was on an old military and trade route between Franconia and Bohemia, which led over the Höll Pass, it probably came into being much earlier. Huhnhöfen had extensive land holdings and hat rights. There was probably a village with several buildings at this point before it was first mentioned. There are several place names for disappeared villages that come into question and have not yet been located. Similar to the neighboring villages, the residents had to flee or perished during the Thirty Years' War. The settlement became deserted. In 1655 it was rebuilt. The owners of the property are known up until the 20th century, most recently employees of the state forest. The relatively large area around the settlement has been reforested for some time. Open spaces in front of the house, which are still used for agriculture, indicate parts of the clearing area. Hühnerhöfen has been uninhabited since 1974. The Quellenweg on the Torfmoorhölle - Saalequelle stage leads past the farmhouse that is still there, a stable house with a well.

Nice quiet place to rest in the Kosertal, right on the Koserbach.
