The "Weisse-Achen-Tal" separates the Hochgern from the Hochfelln. There the Weissache drains the area, especially the eastern flank of the Hochgern and the western flank of the Hochfelln to the north. The water ultimately flows through the town of Bergen into Lake Chiemsee. The water of this river flows over rapids and weirs several times and therefore appears completely white in these places, hence the name.
