The Falckensteiner beach stretches from the Friedrichsort lighthouse (located on an island) to the north and ends at the border with the Kiel-Schilksee district. It is the longest bathing beach in Kiel and a popular local recreation area in Kiel. The southern part of the beach is bordered to the west by the Friedrichsort dike, in front of which marram grass and other dune plants have settled.
