The hill is indeed high, but there's no view from the meadow because of the surrounding trees. The RW (Regional Hiking Trail) marked with the green ring from Mistelgau leads here and is a manageable 5.5 km.

Well… if you called it a stool, it would be sufficient…😉

flowy trail, not muddy

The Neubürg table mountain is the second highest elevation in the region at 587 meters, after the Sophienberg (593 meters). It is located in the Mistelgau municipality. The Neubürg was formed in the Jurassic period. The top layer consists of limestone, followed by Ornatenton and iron sandstone. The Neubürg is called a table mountain because it has a flat table surface instead of a dome. Due to the erosion-related formation, the Neubürg is also called an island or witness mountain. It stands like an island in the further eroded environment and "witnesses" the rock layers that previously covered the entire area.

There is a bench just below the tower. Ideal for snacks.

Unfortunately, the stone no longer stands as beautifully free as in the title photo. Still find him impressive, enthroned lonely on the summit. The Heidenstein is also easy to climb, so you can at least catch a glimpse of the horizon.

Even if you don't think so, the Heidenstein at 577 meters is just as high as the Hohe Metze and thus the highest mountain in the Scheßlitz municipality. Unlike from the Hohe Metze, however, you have no view at all. A hike is still worthwhile because of the surrounding trails.

With its new (built in 2012), 12-meter-high observation tower, the Hohe Kreuz – the highest point of the "hollow mountain" (522 + 12 m) – is now on par with the Adlerstein in height.
