The path here leads through a deeply cut valley with some very steep rocky cliffs. Sometimes you can also see the so-called whirlpools in the riverbed. These are round depressions in the slate rock that have been "ground" by the Schwarza over thousands of years with stones and rubble. They are protected as natural monuments because they are very rare.

The Mörlagraben near Rudolstadt was formed after the last Ice Age. The valley is 860 meters long and between 10 and 30 meters deep. You can still see the deposits of the Zechstein massif on the valley walls. You start at "Bayreuther Platz" and walk past the "Himmelsleiter" (Heaven's Ladder) to the street "Unterm Hain." At the top, there's a swing, a cable car, and other surprises for children.
