6월 17, 2025, Schwabinger Bach Waterfall
The Eisbach and Schwabinger Bach are two artificially created waterways in Munich's English Garden, fed by the Isar River. The Eisbach is best known for its famous standing wave, considered a unique urban surfing spot. The Schwabinger Bach flows through the northern part of the English Garden and is a popular place for walking, relaxing, and water sports. Both streams contribute significantly to the park's recreational and natural atmosphere.

The Japanese Garden in Munich's West Park The Japanese Garden was created in Munich's West Park as part of the 1983 International Garden Exhibition, at the same time as the Chinese Garden, the Thai Temple and the Nepalese Pagoda. It is a mixture of Shinto style (lake stage and two wooden lanterns) with Zen style. The waiting shelter, walkway, tea house, waterfall and stone lanterns are in Zen style. The main elements of the Japanese Garden in Munich's Westpark are a shallow pond with a terrace, a footbridge to a viewing platform and, opposite, a stylized tea pavilion. Rocks were placed around the pond to create a rugged landscape, with some Japanese tree species and some native pine trees planted in them. Source: Excerpt from Wikipedia

10월 12, 2023, Isar Cascades at Maximiliansbrücke
In spring, when the thaw begins, things can get more rapid: the masses of water rush over the cascades as if there were no tomorrow. And even when the flow is calmer, the view from the bridge down, past the bubbling fountains, across the river to the chic house front on Widenmayerstrasse - that's something. And hey, while you're there, don't forget to take a look up. The Maximilianeum, seat of the Bavarian State Parliament, sits majestically there. An impressive building worth exploring on your own. According to Internetz, there are even guided tours on Sundays, at least outside of Corona times. And in the state parliament café you can relax from your bike tour with a coffee.

Magnificent view of the small waterfall. - The Eisbach wave with the surfers is a little further up, directly on Prinzregentenstrasse. - Walk from here across the large meadow to Monopteros. - By bike: The best route by bike through the English Garden is not easy to find. - Link to the map: https://t1p.de/radlvorrangnetz - “MunichWays” app: - https://t1p.de/Google-MunichWays - https://t1p.de/Apple-MunichWays

On the way from the Badenburg to the north is the sculpture of the resting Pan on the left, who plays the shepherd's flute (syrinx) in the company of a billy goat. The seated figure from 1815 comes from Peter Simon Lamine, who repeats his motif from 1774 from the Schwetzingen palace gardens. Executed in Carrara marble, the shepherd god stands somewhat remotely on an artificial elevation on a base made of Nagelfluh. The entire area was originally structured with other rocks that are clearly visible, but these have now sunk into the terrain. The "Pan Monument," as early historians called the group, crowns an artificial spring. It is the outflow of the Great Lake, which pours into the Teufelsbach with a small waterfall and flows in a northeasterly direction. The background of the ancient legendary figure is formed by yew trees, which merge into a residual growth of the originally existing barberries, clematis, blackberries and ferns. It is the only garden decoration that was realized during Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell's Bavarian tenure. Pan representations are among the popular motifs in the sculptural programs of garden art. The Japanese garden was a contribution to the exhibition by Munich's twin city of Sapporo. It is designed as a synopsis of various elements from the tradition of Japanese gardens as they were developed in the early Heian period around the year 800. Essential elements are a shallow pond with a terrace, a footbridge to a viewing platform and a stylized tea pavilion opposite. Rocks were placed around the pond, depicting a rugged landscape, in which some Japanese species of trees and some native pines were planted. The trees were not selected according to whether they occur in a traditional Japanese garden, but whether their growth habit can represent a principle corresponding to the Japanese garden in Munich. Individual objects imported from Japan, such as stone lanterns and basins, were placed in this landscape. The gardeners from Sapporo in the Munich area looked for the rocks all the way to Tyrol. Just very idyllic here, definitely enjoy it yourself 🤩👍

12월 24, 2021, Oberstjägermeisterbach Waterfall
The Oberstjägermeisterbach is derived from the Eisbach at the Dianabadschwelle (2nd surf wave on the Eisbach) and runs continuously through the northern English Garden to the Aumeister. To the right and left of the small stream are many paths, but also narrower paths. Popular with walkers with and without a dog, joggers and bikers. If you are lucky, you will also meet the mounted police squadron.
